Good News for Boston Office & Retail!

Boston’s Back Bay is Thriving!

The Boston Globe recently reported that retail sales in Boston’s Back Bay are up 12% (compared with sales in 2019). This can largely be credited to the neighborhood’s mix of residences, tourism, shopping, office building, hotels, events, and world-class attractions – not to mention its history and distinctive beauty.  This is wonderful news for Boston and for the Back Bay!

Of course, this trend is excellent for companies that have (or would like to open) retail stores and restaurants in the Back Bay. In addition, seeing the neighborhood thrive is also terrific for its office spaces! According to Meg Mainzer-Cohen, Executive Director of the Back Bay Association, the Back Bay has long been considered a “lifestyle center,” “part of the attractiveness of the offices [in the neighborhood].” And since the Back Bay continues to have a vibrant shopping and dining scene, those elements that have drawn companies and organizations to the Back Bay are just as as compelling they were in pre-pandemic years.

In fact, as so many organizations are seeking to encourage their team members back into the office, the incentives of in-person office life have become more important than ever to companies choosing where to set up office space. Having headquarters in Boston’s Back Bay greatly adds to these incentives. The neighborhood features world-class shopping, historic beauty, beautiful outdoor amenities such as the Public Garden, and quick access to events, theatre, and much more.
